October Book News!

Fall is falling, in the form of russet leaves, golden larch needles, and the pine, spruce, and fir cones the squirrels toss out of the trees with such determination. We’re all hard at work on our next books. Meanwhile, some news to share:

On Thursday, October 3, the Whitefish Community Library is hosting Local Authors night from 4 to 8. Local writers — including all of us — will mingle with readers from 4 to 6, followed by short readings from 6 to 8. Books will be available for sales and signing, too.

KAREN’s archaeological thriller,  Remarkable Silence, will be on sale for $.99 on Oct. 13.

Leslie-WEB-ColorHumanities Montana sponsors the annual Festival of the Book in Missoula, October 10-12, with interviews, readings, panel discussions, writing classes, and more.  (Full schedule here.)  LESLIE  will read from her first mystery, Death al Dente, Friday, October  11, at 11:00 a.m., along with two other Montana mystery writers. And Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., she’ll be part of a panel discussion called “Sweet Home, Montana: A Sense of Place in the Novel,” with four other writers and a fabulous moderator.

And you can hear Leslie on the radio, on KUFM’s fabulous program, The Write Question. The interview will air on Thursday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m.; it can also be streamed or download as a podcast starting a few days before the broadcast.

From MARIE F. MARTIN: “October 12 and 13 Harbored Secrets will be free for Kindle downloads.  I am busy writing my next story 101 Harbor Place and promoting my other two.  Also have been practicing oral reading for the Authors Event at the Whitefish Library.  Kind of scary but have invited friends anyway.  If I stumble around with the words, I will live with the pain of that on the golf course for awhile.”

From Betty Kuffel: October dawned with clouds opening to reveal white termination dust on the mountains signaling the end of summer and the beginning of winter – a time in Alaska that made us hunker down and get ready for the snow. Here, we have a few more days of glorious fall and for me, a series of book signings: North Valley Hospital is hosting signings on October 8, 16 and 25, from 11-1:30 at the gift shop.

On October 19, my presentation on Your Heart – Prevent & Reverse Heart Disease and a book signingYour Heart Book Cover- Final 1 will be in Great Falls at the Eagles Manor from 1:30- 3:30 pm. On November 2nd (early warning) Dr. Kathleen Lewison and I will be presenting together at The Springs in Whitefish on heart disease, followed by a book signing.
