Marie F Martin’s new novel is now loaded on Amazon and is available on both kindle or paperback.

A simple game of chance results in Corinne Cooper’s best friend’s death and set her on a collision course with a detective still nursing hate from the past.

Three years of lonesome widowhood leads Corinne Cooper to a simple need. She wants a man. She cons her friend Edgy Brewster into helping her find just the right guy. They visit a honkytonk, the biggest church in town, and a bingo parlor looking for an eligible bachelor. Nothing goes as planned. Now Corinne is the prime suspect in a murder and must prove her innocence. Any of the four men she has met could have committed the heinous act. But which one?

LESLIE BUDEWITZ: So happy to share the news that my first historical short story, “All God’s Sparrows,” has been nominated for the 2018 Agatha Award for Best Short Story. Originally published in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine (May-June 2018), it features real-life historical figure Mary Fields, aka Stagecoach Mary and Black Mary, who was born in slavery in Tennessee in 1832 and moved to Montana Territory to care for the ailing Mother Superior at St. Peter’s Mission near Cascade in 1885. In “All God’s Sparrows,” Mary and a young nun encounter a young mother and her daughter whose plight requires an inspired intervention. Read it via pdf on my website. The second Stagecoach Mary story, “Miss Starr’s Goodbye,” will appear in Alfred Hitchcock later this year. The Agatha Awards are given by the Malice Domestic mystery convention in early May.

Once in a Blue Moon news!

Once in a blue moon means it’s a rare occurrence. How about once in a blue blood moon? January 31, 2018 not only brought us a lunar eclipse during a blue moon, it was during a blood moon when the moon is closest to the earth. As of Jan 31, my three new e-books became available on Amazon. It’s my once in a blue blood moon event.

The books were brought to completion with the help of my dedicated critique group, my husband Tom who formatted and uploaded the books, my sister Bev for cover design, and a wonderful professional editor, Kathy McKay. Her last name is the same as the protagonist, Kelly McKay, who lives in my medical thriller series. It must have been destiny for them to meet.

A romantic medical thriller set in Alaska and two books in my medical thriller series are now available.

A fourth book, Fatal Feast, will be submitted to Kindle Scout publishing contest later this month.

5 Gifts To: YOU From: YOU

By Kathy Dunnehoff

The day after Valentine’s Day you may have leftover chocolate…

lucy and ethel chocolate

or flowers you’re still enjoying, but why not put yourself on the February gift list?

Here are my 5 suggestions for presents To: YOU  From: YOU…

  1. Watch Amy Cuddy’s TED talk on body language. It’s moving and wonderful and may just change your life.
  1. You know how bubble baths are yawningly common? Step it up with bath salts. I make my own for next to nothing with Epsom salt and a scented oil.
  1. Spend 30 minutes with the combination of your choosing: A beverage + A comfortable spot + Something you love to read.
  1. Look in the mirror once today and do not laser in on something you don’t like. Appreciate something you love. You can do this!
  1. You know the red cars phenomenon? If I suggest that you notice red cars, you’ll suddenly see them everywhere. Well, make a list of 3 things that make you happy and actively look for them. My 3 right now are: 1. Seeing signs of spring.  2. Moments when I’m laughing with my family.  3. Times when the writing flows.

Happy post Valentine’s Day gifting to you!

LIVE FREE MY LOVE

Love Lives Here

We are the original star-crossed lovers!  Fifty-eight years ago we got reacquainted, engaged, married and began our journey.  Now we are entering our eightieth year celebrations…your birthday on Valentine’s Day and mine in July.  What a trip it is and how grateful I am that you decided to call me on that day in May.

Live Free My Love

My heart is wide open these days

When I look at you.

You feel so warm and close

So nearly dearly a part of me.

Even when we’re not touching

Your essence surrounds me.

Deep sounds of you rumble through my body

Vibrating the core of me.

My silence is shattered with a song

Elevating the day from silence to nonsense.

Songs speaking your mood, your thoughts

With lyrics revealing a being unclothed,

A public man of hidden passions

Wearing a cloak of laughter and control

Over pain lodged beneath a shield of

Casual concern masking the buried

Need for Yes to your dreams

And cheering your vision ever onward.

You are so elegantly human.

So overflowing with a child’s love.

Wanting to burst through reserve,

Wanting to dance and sail on the moon,

Wanting to float balloons at the center of the world,

Wanting love and joy and…

Dobish Torte.

Live free, My Love.
